Make a sunroom or enclosed porch usable in more seasons with insulated floors, walls and ceilings and sealed edges.
A sunroom or enclosed porch is a favorite space, but it is often built lightly. Glass walls, thin roofs and floors over open air all work against comfort. Insulating the parts that can be insulated makes a visible difference.
We focus on the floor, the ceiling or roof deck, the knee walls and any solid walls. We seal the joint where the addition meets the house and between the frame and the glass, and we talk about glazing upgrades honestly, since glass is often the largest weak spot.
Many porches sit on piers or a short crawl space. Air sealing and insulation below the floor, with a protective cover, keeps the room warmer and the floor less cold.
A light roof can heat the room quickly. We add insulation at the roof deck or ceiling and ventilate or seal it based on the structure.
The connection between the sunroom and the main house is often drafty. Sealing it reduces drafts, dust and energy loss.
Insulation cannot fix a wall of single-pane glass. We discuss shading, film and replacement glazing as part of a realistic plan.

We walk the attic, walls, crawl space and equipment, measure depths and use thermal imaging when it helps.
We protect the house, seal air leaks, place baffles and fix small problems so the insulation can do its job.
Loose-fill, batts, foam or board goes in to the planned depth, with clean edges and clear markers.
We measure the result, take photos and test air leakage when the scope includes it.
We walk the finished work with you, answer questions and leave the site clean.
Insulation helps a great deal, but glass still limits comfort on extreme days. We explain what to expect.
It can be, especially at the roof and floor. We choose by the structure.
Not necessarily. Sealing and shading help first, and glazing upgrades come later if needed.
Yes, if there is crawl space access, or from above when the floor is open.
