A sized dehumidifier and controlled airflow that keep a sealed crawl space in a healthy humidity range through every season.
Even a sealed crawl space needs help in a humid climate. Moisture seeps from the ground, from the foundation and from the air that finds its way in. A dehumidifier removes that moisture before it condenses on wood, ducts and insulation.
We size a dehumidifier to the volume of your crawl space, set it up with a drain or pump so it runs on its own and add a humidity monitor so you can see the range at a glance. Where the space calls for it, we add controlled airflow from the conditioned house as an alternative.
An undersized unit runs constantly and cannot keep up. An oversized one cycles too much. We calculate the volume and the moisture load and pick a unit made for crawl space conditions.
A dehumidifier is only useful if it drains. We run a gravity line to the outside when possible or install a condensate pump when it is not.
A small digital monitor shows relative humidity, so you know the system is working. We aim for the range that keeps wood and insulation stable.
In some homes a small amount of conditioned air from the house keeps the space dry. We discuss both approaches and recommend the one that fits the equipment and the house.

You tell us what is going on, which rooms bother you and what you hope to change, and we set a time that fits your day.
We walk the attic, walls, crawl space and equipment, measure depths and use thermal imaging when it helps.
We protect the house, seal air leaks, place baffles and fix small problems so the insulation can do its job.
Loose-fill, batts, foam or board goes in to the planned depth, with clean edges and clear markers.
We measure the result, take photos and test air leakage when the scope includes it.
We walk the finished work with you, answer questions and leave the site clean.
Not all, but most sealed crawl spaces in our humid summers benefit from one. We measure before we recommend.
A crawl space unit uses a modest amount of power, and it runs only as needed. We explain the settings.
Household units are not built for crawl space conditions and often fail. A dedicated unit works better.
Filters and the drain line should be checked a couple of times a year. We provide simple instructions.
It manages vapor, not liquid water. Drainage is needed first if the space floods.
