Duct Sealing and Duct Insulation

Leaky, uninsulated ducts in attics and crawl spaces repaired and wrapped, so the air you pay to condition reaches the rooms.

Ducts carry the air you have heated or cooled to every room. When they run through a hot attic or a damp crawl space and have leaky seams, a large share of that air never gets where it is going. Rooms at the end of the run feel weak and the equipment works harder.

We seal duct joints and boots with mastic or approved tape, repair crushed or disconnected runs and wrap the ducts in insulation sized for the space. The goal is simple: the air you pay for arrives where you want it, at the temperature it should be.

Seal the seams first

Mastic coats every joint and takes up small movement as ducts expand and contract. Old cloth tape dries and falls off, so we replace it.

Insulation on the outside

Ducts in an unconditioned attic or crawl space need an insulating jacket. Without it, they gain or lose heat along the way, and condensation can form on cold ducts.

Repairs and rebalancing

Crushed, kinked or detached runs reduce airflow. We repair or replace damaged sections and tune the system to improve balance.

Part of the bigger picture

Duct work pairs well with attic insulation and air sealing. We coordinate with your HVAC provider when equipment changes are needed.

How it works

Our process, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Call and schedule

You tell us what is going on, which rooms bother you and what you hope to change, and we set a time that fits your day.

  2. 02

    Inspect and assess

We walk the attic, walls, crawl space and equipment, measure depths and use thermal imaging when it helps.

  3. 03

    Seal and prepare

We protect the house, seal air leaks, place baffles and fix small problems so the insulation can do its job.

  4. 04

    Install the insulation

Loose-fill, batts, foam or board goes in to the planned depth, with clean edges and clear markers.

  5. 05

    Verify and test

We measure the result, take photos and test air leakage when the scope includes it.

  6. 06

    Walk through and enjoy

We walk the finished work with you, answer questions and leave the site clean.

Questions

Duct Sealing and Insulation FAQ

How do I know if my ducts leak?

Weak airflow at far rooms, dust, uneven temperatures and high bills are clues. A duct test or visual inspection confirms it.

Should I seal or replace ducts?

Sealing and insulating fixes many systems. Badly damaged ducts are better replaced, and we tell you which applies.

What is mastic?

A thick, paste-like sealant brushed over duct joints. It stays flexible and lasts longer than tape.

Do ducts in a conditioned attic need insulation?

It depends. If the attic is part of the conditioned space, duct insulation matters less, but sealing still helps.

Will this lower my bills?

Sealed and insulated ducts reduce loss, which often helps. The amount varies by house.
