Old, wet, matted or contaminated insulation removed by vacuum and replaced with a clean, correctly sized layer.
Insulation does not last indefinitely in every condition. Roof leaks soak it, rodents nest in it, years of dust and pet hair load it and some old materials simply compress until they do very little. When the old layer is the problem, adding more on top only hides it.
We remove the old insulation with a large vacuum that carries it to a sealed truck, so dust stays out of the house. Then we clean the surfaces, repair or flag hidden problems, seal the air leaks that were underneath and install new insulation to the right depth.
Wet or moldy material, heavy rodent contamination, fire or smoke damage and old insulation packed down flat all justify removal. Dry, clean and fluffy insulation can usually stay.
Vacuum removal keeps the debris contained. We seal the attic hatch, protect the path through the house and bag what must be bagged. The truck outside does the heavy lifting.
Removal exposes the floor, the framing and every leak that was hidden. It is also the best time to fix wiring boxes, bath fan ducts and gaps at the top plates before new insulation goes in.
New loose-fill or batts go in at a measured depth, with baffles at the eaves and a clean hatch cover. The result is an attic that works as designed and stays cleaner.

We walk the attic, walls, crawl space and equipment, measure depths and use thermal imaging when it helps.
We protect the house, seal air leaks, place baffles and fix small problems so the insulation can do its job.
Loose-fill, batts, foam or board goes in to the planned depth, with clean edges and clear markers.
We measure the result, take photos and test air leakage when the scope includes it.
We walk the finished work with you, answer questions and leave the site clean.
Stains, a musty smell, flattened material, rodent droppings or evidence of a past roof leak are all signs. We inspect and tell you honestly if it can stay.
Vacuum removal is contained. We seal the hatch, protect the floor on the way up and keep the hose outside the living area.
If we see signs of mold, damaged wiring, a roof leak or a suspect material such as vermiculite, we stop, show you and recommend the right specialist or testing.
Yes. Floored attics need some boards lifted, and we can often remove and replace insulation through small access points.
Most homes take one to two days, depending on size, access and the amount of cleanup.
